Helicopter Works begins 9/15

Good afternoon!
Ameren Missouri is committed to providing safe, reliable and affordable energy.  In order for us to continue meeting energy needs now and into the future, we will be enhancing sections of the energy grid in St. Louis County.  Maintenance work will be performed on the Page-Mason-Hunter 138 kV  transmission lines, located within the following municipalities:  Clayton, Creve Coeur, Maryland Heights, Olivette, Overland, Page Dale, University City and Vinita Park.  The work will mainly consist of stringing new wire and existing structure maintenance.
The work is interesting, in that we are utilizing a helicopter to perform the upgrades, minimizing our footprint on the ground. The helicopter allows Ameren Missouri to update aging transmission lines in a significantly shorter time frame – weeks, rather than months.  The helicopter and crew may draw attention from area residents.  The public should be aware that all necessary safety precautions and permits are in place.  We encourage motorists who notice the helicopter work to:
  • Focus on the road
  • Maintain a safe speed
  • Refrain from taking photos or video while driving
  • Stay a safe distance from crews
The helicopter work will begin approximately September 15th, 2017, and you may notice contractor crews mobilizing and material being delivered to the work areas after September 5th. We expect to finish this project by the end of December 2017, weather permitting.
Please feel free to share this information with your residents.  We assure you that Ameren Missouri and its contractors will make every effort to minimize the impact to property owners while performing this work.  Although the reliability improvements are being performed under authority of an existing easement, we have notified affected landowners and emergency management agencies, including local law enforcement, of this necessary maintenance.  Thank you for your cooperation as our crews perform this work to improve our communities’ energy reliability.
Have a safe day,
